MP Public Service Commission (MPPSC) was established on 1 Nov’1956 under the section 118(3) of the States Reorganization Act. MPPSC is the administrative as well as independent body that is responsible for the recruitment of candidates to various service posts in the state by holding competitive examination. Apart from conducting the state civil services examination and selecting appropriate candidates for civil services posts, the commission is also reckoned for framing rules and regulations and initiating disciplinary actions as when required. In order to undertake the varied tasks, commission has a chairman and four other members.
Not only this, the formation of State Public Service Commissions was visualized to eradicate-
• Favoritism, nepotism, personal likes / dislikes, whims and fancies
• Birth, descent or such other things as the basis of selection
• Canvassing in any form in respect of a candidate
