Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), earlier known as Madras Service Commission came was founded under an Act of Madras Legislature in 1929. Furthermore, this was the first Service Commission of India. With its headquarters in Madras, Madras Service Commission turned into Madras Public Service Commission in the year 1957. Additionally, in the year 1970 the name of the State was changed to Tamil Nadu thereby changing Madras Public Service Commission to Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).
