UP PSC was founded on April, 1, 1937, with the motto to recruit candidates to various services in the state. The commission is regulated by Uttar Pradesh Public Services Commission Regulation, 1976. Earlier it had its headquarters in the Secretariat in Allahabad with nearly 10,000 applications at its disposal, but it has come a long way. Commission today has a its office located in the renowned city of Lucknow and disposes more than a lakh application every year at its well-equipped office.



Along with its two spacious examination centers in Allahabad and Lucknow, now UP PSC caters to the requirements of about 3000 candidates at a time. With the accelerating number of candidates, the number of members of the commission has also increased gradually in keeping with the increase in the quantum of work of the commission and now there are about 8 members in it.
