The front surface of a thick mirror both reflects and refracts light.The first image is formed due to reflection at this surface.This image is dim because very little light is reflected.The refracted light is reflected at the back surface which is silvered.This forms the second image whch is bright.Other images will be formed due to multiple reflection by front and back surfaces.All these images are dim.
