Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) was constituted in the year 1951 under the provision of constitution, to recruit candidates for various civil services across the nation. Selection is carried out as per the score of the candidate in the preliminary and main examination as well as personality test. For few of the services in the state, the commission only conducts written competitive examination and takes the personality test.
The office location has been changed number of times. First of all the office was located in the “United India” buildings, Bangalore City, till 20-05-1951. Due to accommodation problems, it was shifted to “Balabrooie”, on Palace Road, Bangalore, on 21st May 1951 and remained there upto 7th November 1956. Soon it was shifted to the north wing of “Atarakacheri” a portion of the High Court Building and remained there upto January 1968. Finally, it was shifted to the present premises at the “Park House” situated on the North West side of Vidhana Soudha.
