Please dont bother much about the cut off, your preparation must be thorough and you will get through. The cut off picture has become kind of fudged up especially after the introduction of negative marking. I know of people getting in with as low scores as 70 in GS. So dont think about it much, but do try to stay above 90 in both the papers

the pattern of KAS is more or less similar to IAS. Kindly go through our article on tips on the preparation for Civil Services. In addition to that dont forget to study as much literature about your own state as possible.

For geography , K Siddhartha's books are currently sufficient, but for deeper preparation dont forget to go through the NCERT books. For Sociology you can use following reference books

dont do it now, for now only start reading a one national newspaper thoroughly. as you enter your third year, decide about you optionals and start having a feel of them by reading some easy books for the subjects. In your fourth year, start devoting more time to your preparation and if possible join some coaching institute as well... but nothing must be done at the expense of your studies. your score in your degree will count in the interview stage

It is what the name says, Civil Service! A civil servant is supposed to faithfully and efficiently implement the policies of the government in power, keeping in mind that at no point his actions go against the provisions of the Constitution and the laws in force at that point of time. Further he must always keep public welfare in mind and should try to maximise it through his actions

Hi kishor, for history you need to read 11th and 12 th NCERT Books, rest of the stuff you will find in 'Unique' guide for Pre, for modern indian history you may refer to spectrum's modern history guide

Political Science is a very good optional. It is similar to Public Adminstration in many aspects but still differs in the emphasis. In fact it is much safer than Pub. Ad. because its scope is very well defined. So go for it
