Well this is a bit strange. In the third round of indicative allotment, I'm not getting ANYTHING. 1)Does this mean the choices I've filled are unachievable for my rank?[They are according to last year's cutoff] 2)Will things change before the first counselling? 3)Will I get anything respectable at all[ read NITs Trichy,Surathkal,Warangal,Allahabad; and I'm open to all branches except Mining and Production] in the first round? 4)My choices were Chemical NITK>Civil NITK>Chemical NITT>Civil NITT>Chemical NITW>Civil NITW 5) My All India Rank:6230 SR:455 [Maharashtra] 6)And how is NIT Nagpur vis-a-vis the other big NITs? Thanks.

I'd also filled ECE IIIT-H>ECE Surathkal>EEE Surathkal after these but I was sure of not getting these..[!] Also as this was only my second choice-filling, I put only these nine choices to get an idea of what to expect in the big NITs. I will surely get something in the Nagpur NIT, but I wanted to know my chances in the more recognized NITs. After the second round of allotment, I was getting Civil at Surathkal.

as the word indicates indicative allotment, is just an indication and not the actual seat allotment.... the actual counselling results are, at tyms, far different from the online counselling result.... so dnt worry for it.... many higher rankers of aieee may also be those who'll be joining IITs,BITs... they may hav filled choices here at online counselling... but they wont be cuming in the campus counselling.... and only this factor changes the whole scenario at the time of on-campus-counselling...

One more query. Are the closing ranks mentioned in the CCB site the ones after the first round of counselling or the final iteration??

NIT Nagpur is a good NIT It is comparable to MNNIT Allahabad\NIT calicut and NIT jaipur .Its the best coll in Mahrashtra after IIT B.You should also consider UICT(only btech chem) as chemical eng there is second to only IIT B{Mukesh Ambani also studied there}.There used to be a 15% AIEEE quota there.I m not sure if it still exists.

Yes the quota still exists and I've applied there. But there are only 18 seats in the general category so I'm not sure I'll get in. In fact, I'm 35th in their merit list, so chances look very bleak for the B.Chem.Engg. programme, which is probably the best in the country and I'm told, a lot more hands-on and practical than the IITs Chemical Engineering course, which is supposed to be very abstract.
