Start the preparation by knowing the topics given in the syllabus, so that u can focus on these topics only. Also, there may be a chance that the syllabus may be changed so, make sure, u know the same about the subjects that you have opted for. After this, u can start preparing for GATE, focus on problem solving, this will help u gain tricks to solve the same. Also i would suggest u not to depend on selective study. (By selective study, i mean leaving few topics that you feel are not of much importance.) Selective study never helps. Try to solve, previous year question papers and sample papers and make sure u solve them within a given frame of time. Finally, i will conclude, the only way to achieve success is through practise and more practise, only those succeed who enjoy what they do and those who work hard to achieve goals. So All the Best !!
