Straight Lines -- Find the equation of the lines

Find the equation of the line that lie at the unit distance from P(1,1) and parallel to the base QR in the triangle PQR where P=(1,1) Q=(3,-2) and R= (6,8) also identify the line if the line

a. Cuts the sides PQ and PR

b. Doesnot cut the sides PQ and PR

The Eqn of QR is

Slope = $\frac{-2-8}{3-6}=\frac{10}{3}$

Thus eqn will be $\frac{y-8}{x-6}=\frac{10}{3}\\10x-3y=36$

Now As the line is parellel to QR it's eqn willl be 10x-3y =C where C is a constant

Now Apply the formulae for perpendicular distance from (1,1) to the line .Thus u get

$\frac{10(1)-3(1)+C}{\sqrt{10^2+3^2}}=1$

Find C u get C =-5 and -9

Thus two eqn's of the line are

$10x-3y+5=0\\10x-3y+9=0$

None of the lines cut either PQ or much PR , this is very much evident by a rough diagram .
